Dear CLS Principals and Leaders,
I’m writing to share a new funding opportunity for grassroots multicultural groups. See the screenshot below of the letter from the Minister of Multicultural Affairs Ingrid Stitt announcing the Multicultural Capacity Building Program. This is a Victorian Government funding opportunity that Community Language Schools may be eligible to apply for.
This program is designed to support grassroots multicultural organisations to strengthen governance, systems, leadership, and operational capacity.
Key information
-
Funding streams: Small (up to $10,000), Medium (up to $100,000) and Large (up to $400,000)
-
What can be funded: Capacity building activities such as governance, planning, partnerships, leadership development, IT systems, and business operations
-
Priority given to: Emerging organisations and schools representing new, rural, or regional communities
In case you may have missed the Victorian Government’s announcement in January, applications are currently open and close on Thursday, 19 February 2026 at 3:00 pm.
Information session resources
For schools that registered for (or missed) the recent information session, a recording and the slides are now available here:

Questions and support
For any questions about eligibility or the application process, schools should contact the Department directly:
You can also sign up to the Department’s grants newsletter to be notified of future opportunities: https://confirmsubscription.com/h/d/ADA30827BBC74A11
Given the scale and flexibility of this program, I strongly encourage schools to review the guidelines and consider whether an application may support your school’s priorities.
Kind regards, |
