Targeted Professional Learning Series
Semester 2, 2026 |
|
Dear Community Language School Leaders, Teachers and Educators,
We’re excited to officially launch the CLV Targeted Professional Learning Series – Semester 2, 2026!
Following our successful Teachers' Summit earlier this year, we have been developing a new series of focused professional learning opportunities designed around the needs being raised by community language schools across Victoria.
Throughout Semester 2, the series will bring practical, targeted professional learning directly to our teachers, school leaders and volunteers — with sessions focused on classroom practice, student engagement, inclusive education, behaviour support, curriculum, emerging technologies and school capability.
And we’re kicking things off with a workshop we know will resonate with many of our teachers: |

Positive Behaviour Strategies That Maximise Learning with Sarah Pavy
Wednesday 2 September 2026
6:30 pm–8:00 pm AEST Online via Zoom FREE
Every community language teacher has faced it: the student who won’t engage, the constant calling out, or the class that loses focus halfway through a lesson.
This highly practical and interactive workshop will equip teachers with simple, effective strategies to create calm, focused and engaging classrooms.
Sarah will explore practical approaches to:
-
establishing clear expectations and consistent routines;
-
gaining and regaining student attention;
-
responding calmly to common off-task behaviours;
-
using effective teacher language;
-
preventing minor behaviours from escalating; and
-
maintaining student engagement and active participation.
Teachers will also have the opportunity to reflect on their own classroom challenges and leave with strategies they can apply immediately. |

And there’s much more to come…
Additional Semester 2 workshops are currently being finalised across areas including:
-
explicit teaching and high-impact learning strategies;
-
supporting students with additional and special needs;
-
positive behaviour support and de-escalation;
-
restorative practices;
-
AI for curriculum planning and documentation;
-

We’ll be releasing each workshop as it is confirmed, so keep an eye on your inbox over the coming weeks.
We’re really looking forward to bringing this expanded professional learning program to our community language school sector and to seeing many of you online and in person throughout Semester 2.
Kind regards, |
