Tuesday, 20 October 2026
Dear School Principals, Coordinators and Teachers,
It is with great disappointment that we announce the postponement of Global Voices: The Community Languages Multicultural Festival, originally scheduled for this Sunday, 25 October 2026, at Charles La Trobe College, Macleod West.
After careful consideration of the latest weather forecasts, which indicate a very high chance of showers, possible thunderstorms and windy conditions, the Festival Organising Committee has made the difficult decision to postpone the event.
As a large-scale outdoor festival bringing together thousands of attendees, including hundreds of children and young performers, these weather conditions present significant safety and logistical challenges. With multiple outdoor stages, performances, food and cultural stalls, and limited undercover facilities, we believe postponement is the most responsible course of action.
The safety and wellbeing of our students, families, performers, volunteers and wider community will always remain our highest priority.
IMPORTANT – Please notify your school community
We kindly ask all schools to share this announcement with their students, parents, teachers and wider school communities as soon as possible, particularly those who may have been planning to attend the festival this Sunday.
If you have already promoted the festival through your newsletters, social media channels, websites or community groups, we would greatly appreciate your assistance in updating those communications to reflect the postponement.
When will the festival take place?
We are working towards rescheduling the Global Voices Festival for early 2027.
A new date will be announced once arrangements have been finalised with our venue, participating schools, performers and event partners, and the necessary approvals have been obtained.
Schools that have registered to perform will be contacted separately regarding their participation and arrangements for the rescheduled event.
Our commitment to Global Voices continues!
We recognise how disappointing this news will be, particularly for the many students, teachers, families and cultural groups who have spent weeks preparing and looking forward to this special celebration.
An extraordinary amount of work, enthusiasm and community spirit has already gone into bringing this festival together, and we want to ensure that all these efforts are celebrated in the way they deserve.
We remain fully committed to delivering a vibrant, inclusive and memorable celebration of the languages, cultures and traditions that enrich our Victorian community.
The foundations for an incredible festival are already in place, and we look forward to building on this momentum to make the rescheduled event an even greater success.
Thank you sincerely for your understanding, flexibility and continued support. We are particularly grateful to our participating schools, dedicated teachers, students, performers, volunteers and community partners for the tremendous commitment they have shown.
We look forward to celebrating Global Voices together in 2027!
