Dear CLV Member Schools,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to provide key updates on CLV activities, recent outcomes, and upcoming events.

Key Achievements

Despite organisational challenges, CLV has remained committed to supporting community language schools (CLSs) and fulfilling our obligations.

Highlights include:

  • Accreditation & Audit Support: Collaborated with RUMACCC to prepare CLSs for the recent accreditation round and supported schools through audits.

  • Funding Application Support: Delivered live information sessions of the grant process and assisted CLSs with submissions via SmartyGrants.

  • Child Safety Compliance: Provided additional training sessions to ensure all CLSs meet regulatory requirements.

  • VCE Provider Support: Assisted with VCAA authorisation and VRQA rectifications.

  • Professional Development: Continued delivery of high-demand teacher training and professional learning opportunities.

Member Survey Highlights

Early in the year, CLV conducted a comprehensive member survey to evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of our services. Key feedback:

  • Members praised the responsiveness of the CLV team.

  • Strong appreciation for the breadth and accessibility of professional development workshops.

  • Over 90% of our members have expressed satisfaction with the CLV team’s support in areas such as communication, child safety, accreditation, funding applications, and conference organisation.

  • Over 70% of members were satisfied with the processes of the VCAA authorisation, the Department of Education, and the VRQA. And we are working on making these processes less stressful and more streamlined for our members.

  • General gratitude expressed for CLV’s “hard work” and “continuous guidance.”

Audit Process & Outcome

At the Department’s request, the Interim Committee welcomed an independent audit to reinforce transparency, accountability, and integrity.

Audit Outcome:

  • 2022–2024 grant acquittals were confirmed as fairly stated, with all deliverables under the Common Funding Agreement met.

  • Auditor commended proactive measures by the Interim Committee, including:

    • Submitting all outstanding 2024 financial records.

    • Resolving prior gaps in job allocation data.

    • Acting on recommendations from an independent 2024 HR review to strengthen governance.

    • Uploading supplier invoices to MYOB to maintain a clear audit trail.

    • Expanding the Conflict of Interest Policy to cover all staff.
