Dear Community Language School Principals,

We are pleased to share an update regarding the Department of Home Affairs Community Language Schools Grants (CLSG) Program, which offers valuable funding opportunities to strengthen language learning across Australia.

The Forecast Opportunity for this program has now been published on GrantConnect, with the formal grant round expected to open for applications soon.

The program will include two funding streams:

Stream 1 – Supporting Community Language Schools
Provides funding to:

  • Support the delivery of community language programs

  • Fund professional development and teacher training

  • Develop new online or digital teaching materials to boost student engagement and enrolments

The CLSG Program – Extension Round grant opportunity will be provided under Stream One. It is also an extension of the previous CLSG Program, which commenced in 2023–24.

Stream 2 – Promoting Asian Language Fluency
Supports initiatives that help more students become fluent in Asian languages through to Years 11 and 12.

Both streams aim to strengthen the quality, reach, and sustainability of community language education nationally.

You can view the published Forecast Opportunities here:

We expect applications to open shortly, with successful schools to begin receiving funding around May 2026.

Once the official Grant Opportunity Guidelines and supporting documents are released, we will circulate them to all schools with further information and guidance.

Kind regards,
